Deposit, inflation and retirement tools
These illustrations complement the existing EMI and SIP calculators. The starting inputs below are examples, not current product rates, forecasts or guaranteed returns. Change them to test your assumptions.
Fixed deposit calculator
Lump-sum deposit with quarterly nominal compounding.
Formula: FV = P × (1 + annual_rate / 400)^(months / 3). Fractional quarters are interpolated. Actual bank rules, tax and early-closure charges can differ.
Recurring deposit calculator
Equal deposits at each month-end; equivalent monthly growth from quarterly nominal compounding.
Equivalent monthly growth i = (1 + annual_rate / 400)^(1/3) − 1; maturity deposit × ((1+i)^months − 1) / i. At zero interest, maturity is the sum of deposits. Contributions occur at month-end; actual bank conventions can differ.
Inflation and future cost calculator
Annual effective inflation applied for the selected number of months.
Formula: future_cost = cost_today × (1 + inflation / 100)^(months / 12). This is a cost illustration, not an official inflation forecast.
Retirement planning calculator
Estimate an illustrative corpus for inflation-linked month-end expenses. Compare it with your existing savings and planned contributions. Pension income is not included; use the expenses you intend this corpus to fund.
Retirement formula and limitations
Future monthly expenses use annual effective inflation. Contributions are made at month-end; assumed nominal annual investment returns are divided by 12 and compounded monthly. The target is the present value at retirement of monthly expenses that then grow with equivalent monthly inflation. The first withdrawal is one month after retirement. The target ends at the selected planning age with no terminal balance.
For monthly investment growth r, monthly expense growth g and N withdrawals, the target is first_expense / (1+r) × Σ[((1+g)/(1+r))^k] for k = 0…N−1. The projection reuses the existing savings and compound-growth calculations.
This assumes constant returns. It does not model a sequence of market losses, tax, fees, unexpected health costs, pension income or an inheritance. The required contribution includes your existing monthly plan. If retirement begins now, no future contribution period is assumed.
